Project Title
Historical Elegance Redefined: Transforming a 1800's Brownstone
Project Overview
In this unique renovation project, we took on the challenge of reimagining a 1800's brownstone. Originally divided into three small one-bedroom units, our objective was to transform these spaces into three luxurious and spacious studio apartments. This project was a delicate balance of preserving the historical essence while introducing modern amenities and design.
Before the Renovation:
The brownstone, steeped in history, featured classic architectural details. However, the interior spaces were segmented into small, confined one-bedroom units, not conducive to modern living standards.
Space Reconfiguration:
Knocked down unnecessary partitions to create open, airy studio layouts.
Ensured each studio apartment was designed to maximize space and natural light.
Historical Features Preservation:
Carefully restored and preserved historical features such as original fireplaces, moldings, and hardwood floors.
Blended these elements with contemporary design to maintain the building's unique character.
Modern Amenities:
Updated the kitchens and bathrooms in each studio with modern fixtures and finishes.
Integrated state-of-the-art appliances and built-in storage to enhance functionality without compromising space.
Efficient Use of Space:
Employed smart design solutions like murphy beds and foldable furniture to optimize living areas.
Created multifunctional spaces that can adapt to various needs, from dining to working.
Lighting and Aesthetics:
Installed new lighting fixtures that complement both the historical and modern elements.
Chose a color palette and materials that reflect the building's age while giving it a fresh, contemporary look.
Exterior and Common Areas:
Refreshed the exterior while preserving its iconic brownstone facade.
Revamped common areas like the entrance and hallways, maintaining the building's historical integrity.
